We thought long and hard about how we wanted to break the news to our parents. It took all the will power we had not to pick up the phone and call them as soon as we found out because we were so excited and couldn't wait to tell them! However, we knew this would be a moment that they would never forget so we wanted to make it extra special!
Well, it just so happened that my Dad's birthday is on July 13th. We were going up to Frankenmuth to celebrate his birthday on the 12th. PERFECT! Now we just had to think of a way to tie in this monumental surprise into his birthday. Our thinking caps were on...
On the other hand, Mom G. and Daddy G did NOT have a birthday coming up so we had to think quick! I got on the phone and called Cookies by Design and ordered a 'baby' cookie bouquet for them. We had them write our due date on the one of the cookies along with the word 'SURPRISE'!!!! We brought it over to their home later that night. They were a little confused at first because I had told them that I got the cookie bouquet from my principal at school (for being the Supervisor of our Summer School program). The reason I told them this was because I wanted to throw them off! Sneaky, huh??? Well, they were thrown off alright! Mom G. took the bait and asked, "What does 3-24-09 mean???" Brandon responded by saying, "That is the estimated due date of your future grandchild!" Take a look at the picture above to see the reaction we got..... it is priceless!
